Lex Robins -Principal Business Manager Finance/Marketing
lex@robinsaccountants.com.au

I commenced my professional career in 1982 with a medium sized accounting firm specialising in small business and taxation. With this experience I joined a large international accounting firm as a business services manager.

After a number of years, I realised that I much preferred working with small businesses and helping them grow and survive with great success.

After a few years consulting to various accounting firms, I commenced my practice in a tiny office at Alexandra Hills. There the practice grew quickly with the help of friends, associates and especially family. In 1995 we moved the practice to Birkdale where it remains now employing around fifteen people. Now specialising in Business Development and Management, the practice has grown to be the largest in the Redlands and Bayside area.

I enjoy the company of family and friends whenever I get the opportunity. I love all sports with a particular passion for snow skiing and soccer. However I enjoy nothing better than watching as a proud parent, my children Ben, Mitch and Demi in whatever activity they wish to participate.
I am qualified with a Bachelor of Business, Certified Practicing Accountant and am a Fellow of the National Tax Agents Associates

Tracey McGuinness-  Business Manager  Business Services

I Started my professional career in 1992 with Robins Accountants as a graduate accountant and thus doubled the number of accountants there at the time. Over the past 12 years I had the honour to see the practice and our client portfolio grow from our humble beginnings into one of the leading accounting firms in the district. Lex Robins was and still is my mentor in both technical and business acumen.
Over this time I’ve worked in almost every facet of the firm and dealt with a great number of our clients who have very diverse businesses. Coming from a family background of small business operators (I was four when my parents opened their first business) I’ve had the opportunity to understand the needs, the stresses and the demands required by business owners in the ever changing business world.
I have a Bachelor of Business degree from QUT with a major in Accounting and a secondary major in Business Law and Taxation. I quickly went on to complete my professional training, receiving my CPA qualifications and Commissioner of Declaration appointment in 1995. I am currently volunteering CPA mentorship to our current accounting graduates which along with my ‘Continuing Professional Development’ keeps my accounting and tax knowledge up to date.
As a senior manager of the firm, I manage a select group of clientele for compliance and taxation issues, however I specialise in the Business Development area of the firm – a somewhat new field for the accounting profession, however I have had over 10 years experience working and studying business development technique, making me one of youngest accountants working in this field.
When away from the office, I do enjoy the quiet comforts of home and my family. I am enjoying the early years of marriage with our substitute children (our dogs) and am involved in performing and competing in Irish dancing which is a great passion of mine. My other enjoyments include watching classic movies and reading classic books.

Ever since I can remember I wanted to be an Accountant. I started out 13 years ago in a small accounting firm in the Redlands and it was here that my love of tax evolved.  I have been with Lex at Robins Accountants for almost 8 years and have never looked back.  I boast various certificates in Business Administration including being a member of the National Institute of Accountants (NIA) and I am a Justice of the Peace (Qual). My proudest achievement was become one of three Senior Mangers of the firm and having the responsibility of running our Cleveland office. My career is important but being a mother would have to be my best achievement to date recently giving birth to my second son, Cody.  The time I spend with Corey and Cody are the most memorable.
When given the chance I enjoy collecting movies, watching reality television shows and reading trashy novels.

I joined the Robins Accountants team in May 2001. I have been working in Public Practice since completing my Bachelor of Business (Accounting) with Central Queensland University in 1997, I also achieved my CPA qualification in 2001. I enjoy working with business clients as each business is unique.
When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family, I became a mum in September 2005. I also enjoy surfing (not very well), walking my dogs and getting outdoors.

I began work in a small accountancy firm at Greenslopes in July 2000. I found I enjoyed assisting people in small to medium businesses with their accounting and taxation needs and I have been working in the field ever since. After a number of years catching a train into the CBD everyday I decided there had to be a better way to work so a joined a Bayside accounting practice to work closer to home. Since being at Robins I have completed the CPA program, progressed to senior manager level and worked with clients assisting in business acquisitions and restructures. When not at work I enjoy playing touch football, watching cricket, rugby league and my six year old play soccer.
